What an amazing book! The book is about real life events that happened to a heart surgeon and made his life extraordinary. Sometimes you forget that you are just a reader and you feel that you are inside the operating room with Dr. Lattouf wishing him luck and assisting him in saving the precious life that he is operating on. I have never and probably will never have the chance to have such an exposure to critical medical procedures that succeeded to come to life through his words. I highly recommend this book especially if you like to read about real life experiences of unusual prople. Even though it is a non-fiction book, you feel that you are reading a fiction novel where the hero always ends up saving a life before the end of the chapter. I personally would love to see a movie made out of this awsome book that can bring all these scenes to life.

I have worked with Dr Lattiuf for the past 28 years . He truly epitomizes the “heart” of cardiovascular surgery in everything he does. Through his guidance and patience I have learned so many valuable skills and gained so much knowldge in my nursing profession. He is an amazing human being that I have been so blessed to know and work along side! This book is only a small part of so much more.... he is a miracle both to his patients and to the staff he mentors!
I'm so grateful that this world has people as fearlessly dedicated as Dr. Lattouf to the never ending study and practice of surgery. This book was easy to read, and his stories and life experiences are unforgettable. Although sometimes I felt that the writing could have benefitted from more expert story-telling and clarifications of the context, it's hard to dwell on such minor shortcomings in the writing because the events described are so fascinating and unusual. (For example, I'm still wondering why President Carter called Dr. Lattouf for his feedback on an upcoming book).
